G-WiS: Global Collaboration of iSchools
The Global Workshop of iSchools will take place on Sunday, 22nd September as part of TPDL2013 in Valetta, Malta. The event will be held in parallel to the Doctoral Consortium of TPDL2013.
Call for Participation
The aim of this workshop is to foster the development of a global iSchool community by inviting delegates from information schools to discuss their academic programs, and research strengths/interests so as to allow them to identify areas of possible collaboration. The morning session comprising presentations from the young researchers of the iSchool community (not restricted to the current iSchools and CiSAP members) will showcase the current state of students' research within the iSchools community. The afternoon session, to be held jointly with the Doctoral Consortium of TPDL, will comprise presentations from the iSchools community addressing various issues and challenges associated with fostering collaborations among iSchools at the regional and international level. This will follow a panel discussion that aims to promote a mutual understanding among the delegates from information schools both from the CiSAP and iSchools community.
Submissions of research papers or research synopses are invited from doctoral or graduate students and young researchers, of up to ten (10) pages, focusing on research in any area of information.
A panel of prominent researchers participating in the G-WiS Program Committee will conduct the workshop. They will review all the submissions and comment on the content of the research and presentation. Students will have 20 minutes to present their research. This will follow QA sessions and feedback from the panel of reviewers.
Submissions should be related to any aspect of information research, and they should contain:
- a clear formulation of the research topic and research hypotheses;
- an outline of the significant problems in the field and their current solutions;
- a description of the proposed approach and its expected contributions;
- a discussion of preliminary results; and
- an evaluation (plan) of the research.
All papers must be written in English and follow Springer's LNCS guidelines. Please send your submission directly by email to the G-WiS chairs with Subject "G-WiS Submission".
Revised versions of the presented papers will be published after the conference on CiSAP website.
